About the Cuyuna Lakes Trail System

The Cuyuna Lakes Trail weaves its way through the tall pines while edging along some of the newest lakes in Minnesota. There is always plenty of wildlife to be seen including many Bald Eagle nests along the path. As the trail curves through the 5000 acre Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area (CCSRA), hikers and bikers are able to enjoy over 25 miles of scenic Minnesota trails through this important link in the overall trail system of the central Minnesota lake region. The area is also a great place for camping or family picnics.

The Cuyuna Lakes Trail offers more than 30 routes to choose from, each with a unique purpose in mind. Everyone from beginners to professionals can easily enjoy the stunning overlooks and scenic views. The landscape of the Cuyuna Lakes Trail system is plush with white bark of the aspen and birch trees, deep-red soil, and turquoise mine lakes throughout your journey. While taking a break, hikers and bikers can enjoy the company of the local wildlife including Bald Eagles, Red-Tailed Hawks, Beavers and more.
